Who we are

The Joint Commission of Taiwan (JCT) is an accreditation body in healthcare established in 1999. JCT was founded by the then Department of Health (renamed to Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2013), Taiwan Hospital Association, Taiwan Non-Government Hospitals and Clinics Association, and Taiwan Medical Association.

JCT is committed to promoting quality and patient safety concepts, the use of quality management tools, and healthcare professional training to assist healthcare administrators and providers in enhancing the quality of their healthcare services.

With profound experience in promoting and participating in the reform of the Taiwan healthcare system, JCT developed professional expertise and established a solid organizational foundation. Thus, on the grounds of the trust earned from society for its honesty, integrity, and neutrality in implementing accreditation, certification, and inspection, JCT has qualified to become a professional healthcare organization accrediting body, certified by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua).

The search for continuous innovation and organization-wide development allows JCT to create extraordinary value for the Taiwan healthcare system and its recipients. Step by step, JCT is making relentless efforts to be the promoter of healthcare quality, to develop the partnership between people and healthcare organizations, and to enhance healthcare quality across the island. Looking forward, JCT operates toward becoming a highly regarded healthcare organization accreditation and quality improvement body with a “worldwide perspective”, while ensuring that the population of Taiwan would receive safe, high-quality, efficient, and person-centered healthcare services.

The purpose of JCT is to promote, execute, accredit and certify the nation's healthcare quality policies. In addition, JCT aims to strengthen healthcare organizations' service quality management, promote harmony in the relationship between healthcare providers and patients, and enhance the nation's healthcare quality.

JCT is proudly certified with international standards, which proves our operations conform to the quality standards at the international level. In 2016, we implemented ISO 9001:2015 quality management system (developed and published by the International Standardization Organization) verification to ensure compliance with international quality management standards. Thus, we passed the certification of “Planning and Managing Operations of Training and Related Activities for Assisting Medical Institutions to Improve Service Quality”. Moreover, to improve the management efficiency of the information security system and enhance the service quality for our clients, JCT established a comprehensive information security management system and successfully passed a third-party impartial unit audit in 2018. Therefore, our operating systems as Medical Care Institution Accreditation Management, Platform for Shared Decision-Making, and Taiwan Patient-Safety Reporting received the ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification. Below are the certificates of registration for the respective certifications.
